The Niagara Falls National Heritage Area (NFNHA) spearheaded the Heritage Arts Mural Project—also known as the Main Street Murals—thanks to a generous grant from the New York State Health Foundation. This initiative brought together 16 esteemed muralists to reimagine the Main Street and Depot Avenue corridor, turning blank walls into vibrant works of art that celebrate freedom, history, and community identity.

Saira Creative Arts was honored to be among this distinguished group, creating a mural in Niagara Falls’ Highland neighborhood through a process rooted in community engagement. Local residents contributed stories, languages, and perspectives that were woven into the design, ensuring the artwork reflects the collective narrative of the neighborhood.

The Highland mural now stands as a testament to both artistic expression and community pride, demonstrating how public art can foster unity, beautify place, and preserve local heritage for generations to come. In addition to celebrating culture and storytelling, the broader goal of the Main Street Murals is to draw more foot traffic into Niagara Falls’ downtown core and enhance the walkability of the district—helping to re-energize Main Street as a thriving and welcoming destination.
